Tucked into a quiet neighborhood in the heart of Victoria, BC, Dragonfly Cottage offers both the charm of a heritage home and proximity to the area’s most popular attractions.

We’re steps away from the restaurants, cafes and shops on trendy Cook Street, and only one house down from the 200-acre Beacon Hill Park. Another two blocks will take you to the ocean with walks along Dallas Road and the beach, with views of the Olympic Mountains across Juan de Fuca Strait. And if you’re looking for museums, heritage spots, or nightlife, downtown Victoria is just a short walk away.

Much like Victoria itself, Dragonfly Cottage is for the traveler who longs to be surrounded by beautiful things. With its mélange of antique furniture and modern accents, the eclectic designer decor invites you to settle in and relax. The cottage has beautifully sunlit and spacious rooms, with more than enough room for everyone. There is a choice of two or three bedrooms, each with their own unique atmosphere, and a lovely bathroom with a claw foot tub and shower.

The fully-equipped kitchen boasts stainless-steel appliances, a large island, and black counter-tops. Off the kitchen is a small laundry room a new stainless-steel washer and dryer. The cottage also has a glassed-in front porch, an open-design living and dining area, and a secluded garden where you can savor your morning coffee or a glass of wine. In addition to all this, we have child-proofed the house to make sure your little ones are safe.

Dragonfly is a beautiful, serene and comfortable home. Sun-lit rooms and a sense of spaciousness create a lovely and relaxed atmosphere. You have the feeling and the charm of a cottage, while in the heart of the city..... and it's only only steps away from Beacon Hill Park!

Beacon Hill Park......

This beautiful and interesting park is described as one of Victoria's 'crowning jewels'. It would be difficult to argue with this once you have spent a day exploring its 62 acres of natural beauty. It doesn't matter what you're in the mood for, a day in this magical park will offer you something.

Beacon Hill is a beautifully landscaped and manicured park with gardens, ponds, stone bridges, and alpine, rock gardens.There are also large areas of the park that have been left in their natural state, the fallen trees creating a sculptural landscape among the natural grasses and native plants.

The park is home to many exotic and native trees, including Garry Oak, Arbutus, Douglas-fir, and Western Red Cedar - to name just a few. A colony of Great Blue Herons, which once numbered over 100 nests, has returned to its nesting grounds in the park this year, after being chased away by a family of Bald Eagles in 2008.

Beacon Hill park is for visitors and locals alike, regardless of age. It's a delightful place for children to spend the day..... there's a petting zoo, playgrounds, a wading pool and picnic areas, live music in the band-shell and one of the world’s tallest Totem Poles.

Cook Street Village...Lively and colorful, it is full of charm and character, with something for everyone.

The streets are pedestrian friendly with a small village atmosphere. There are outdoor food courts, fruit and vegetable vendors, markets, cafes and restaurants, a butcher, a bakery, antique shops and boutiques.

Patios and cafes? Well, you have over ten to choose from along three city blocks, year round! Oh, and did I mention the neighborhood pub?

Our beautiful little village is practical too! You can find all of the day to day things you might need... banks, clinics, pharmacy, post office, hair salons, spas, chiropractor.... We have it all!

A walk along the ocean on Dallas Road?

I hope you like dogs. It's an off-leash area, and there are lots of great dogs and owners to watch and share the space with. Walk along the walkway, or sit on a bench and enjoy the view of the ocean and the snow-covered mountains across the way.

You might decide to spend the day down on the beach collecting rocks or reading a book .....and in case you forget your book..... not to worry. We also have a used-book store in the village, which is right next to one of the antique shops, and directly across from the wine store. Well, you get the picture.

I could go on and tell you about how you can walk downtown to the Parliament Buildings, the Empress Hotel, the Museum, Thunderbird Park, Inner Harbour and the night-life. I could also mention that by simply going in the other direction from Dragonfly Cottage, you come to the Art Gallery of Victoria, the Governor General’s House, and Craigdarrogh Castle.

And the best part? You've barely left your front door.....I told you it was paradise.

    Character, Convenien
    A group of friends and I stayed at Dragonfly Cottage for the Thanksgiving weekend. We very much enjoyed Toula's beautiful home, and even cooked a turkey dinner for ourselves while we were there. She has not forgotten anything - there are plenty of dishes, a toaster, gas stove, blender, and even an espresso maker! The location was perfect for walking to downtown and Beacon Hill Park. We didn't require a car to go anywhere. I would certainly recommend Dragonfly Cottage to others. Toula was lovely - very welcoming and friendly. Thanks Toula! Shannon Dewald Canmore AB

    Pet Friendly Cottage
    We had a great time staying at the dragonfly cottage. Toula has really set up the place to be a home away from home - it had everything we could possibly need, right down to the salt and pepper. The cottage is also very close to downtown and the water, and the shops at the end of the street were very convenient. We hardly used the car at all. Our vacation was very comfortable and relaxing and we LOVED that we could take our dog on vacation with us (she especially loved the off leash area near the water).

    Charming! I spent Labor Day weekend at Dragonfly Cottage for a long girls weekend with my mother, sister, aunts and cousins. First let me start by stating that the photos do not do this wonderful place justice! If you are looking for a charming little cottage feel that is close to everything the Dragonfly is it! We were literally a 10 minute walk from the main downtown area and another 10 minute walk from the water! Not to mention that one block away is the cutest little village that has anything you could want. If this had not been my first time visiting Victoria I would have been content sitting on the front porch drinking wine and walking down the street to check out the little shops and eat at the local restaraunts. While the actual cottage was amazing I think the best part of our weekend was getting to meet the owner Toula! Toula is probably one of the sweetest people I have ever met. If there was anything we needed she was more than accomodating and when I was raving to her about how much I loved the decor of the place she took time to tell me some of her decorating secrets! If you are heading to Victoria for a trip I would highly suggest looking into staying here. My husband and I are located in Portland and I have already told him we will be scheduling another trip up to Victoria and that we cannot stay anywhere else we have to stay at Dragonfly Cottage! Toula thank you for everything you are so wonderful :)

    Close to Cook St
    Review #5599044 A Charming Experience in a Perfect Location We came to Dragonfly Cottage at the start of our Canadian holiday. Jet lagged and fatigued after the long flight from Australia, the cottage was a welcome haven and a perfect introduction to BC style. The apartment was ideal for the three of us travelling together. There was plenty of storage for clothes and suitcases, plenty of hot water and warmth against the cool autumn evenings. And it really feels like home: you are surrounded by books, pictures and antiques that indicate that civilised people live here. People looking for wholly predictable and standardised conformity will be disappointed perhaps in the character charm of the apartment. Yes, two people really did share a double bed before Queen sizes came on the scene. Yes, you'll find the odd light switch in an unexpected spot and the bath is big and picturesque with a shower curtain but the charm of it all more than compensates for any little inconvenience. Two things set the cottage apart and nudge it towards the five star category. Firstly, everything in the apartment works beautifully. All the appliances in the kitchen are top of the range and this was greatly appreciated in the washing machine and dryer, particularly. Secondly, the location of the cottage is perfect. One can walk to the city centre in ten minutes. The posh shops of Cook St are right on the doorstep; there are book shops, boutiques, good coffee and organic bean sprouts enough to satisfy the most fastidious traveller. We loved it and would certainly come back. As an alternative to a hotel room, the cottage is great value and much more convenient. The landlady who lives above the rented portion of the cottage is friendly and eager to help visitors to enjoy the city. Highly recommended.
