Description

Come and experience a private and secluded retreat on the beautiful south side of

Vancouver Island. The Scarf House was built in 1887. The original log cabin has

been wrapped and added onto 3 times ensuring all of the comforts of today. Tucked

away from it all, you can truly experience the wonder that the West Coast has to

offer. The ground level suite, sitting on 1.25 acres of beautiful green grass is nestled

amongst 20 different seasonal fruit trees - when ripe are yours for the picking. Enjoy

a starry night, roasting marshmallows over your private fire pit, without the intrusion

of city - or street lights. Only a 5 minute drive to Gordon Beach located on West

Coast road, with easy vehicle access. Marvel at spectacular sunsets from the

pebble and driftwood laden beach. A short few minutes drive grants you access to

three beautiful lakes where you can play in the water, fish or take a nice stroll

through the many connecting trails. Head to Poirer Lake to enjoy a picnic over

looking a beautiful horse meadow. The outdoor adventures are endless, exploring

forested hiking trails, chartering a boat for sports fishing, kayaking, whale watching,

flying along a zipline, biking the Galloping Goose trail and walking for miles along

the wave-pounded beaches are favourite pastimes here. Go crabbing off the pier,

visit a honey farm, or shop for a specialty food at the summer Saturday Market.

All of this only a 45 minute drive to downtown Victoria, and 10 minutes to the Sooke

village.

The spacious ground level 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom suite is fully furnished with all

the comforts of home. A fully stocked kitchen, a comfortable and tasteful living room

and large king size bed in the bedroom make this a cozy get away. The house

sleeps 4 people with a queen sized pull out in the living room. Special events would

be considered for an additional fee as the yard permits ample parking and room for

RVs and tents.

The owner resides in the upper portion of the house, and has ensured the sound

proofing of the unit is top of the line.

The suite offers a private driveway, and private entrance.

What are you waiting for!

I could live here!

What a great place you have here. There was everything we needed for the 3 of us. Love the location - so quiet- waking up to deer in the yard in the morning, picking fresh plums from one of your many fruit trees. Excellent spot for day trips - so much to do and see within a short drive. Pot holes, beaches, fishing, good food. I could live here. As a host very accommodating, you couldn't have done any more for us!

Nice place to stay

A very nice place to stay. We have had two visits this year at the scarf house. It's great to go spend a day in Victoria and return to this Quiet Retreat with all the Comforts of home. Which we did on our first visit. Our second stay we explored the local beaches and downtown Sooke. After a great day spent on the beach, our gracious host and owner of the scarf house, Doug Dunnett built a beautiful campfire and we sat out under the stars enjoying the evening. We look forward to our next stay at the scarf house. And you should consider it too. Just pack your suitcase... Grab some groceries and Beverages and you will be set. Everything else you will need for a comfortable stay in a beautiful Suite is there.

Wow!

Wow... We stayed at the suite and just loved the place.. Like walking into my own place feeling.. Everything is there, fridge, stone etc.. Such clean comfortable rooms.. We had a beautiful fire at the fire pit. Barbecue is fantastic... All the amenities are there.. We did some wonderful site seeing around the area... Jordan River, Shirley Hill, and Point no Point. We walked the whiff and spit point and drove into Victoria for the day.. What a treat to come back to our vacation home. Thanks Doug for the amazing accommodations and the weekend off chilled by the fire... We will be back! Sherry-Lynn and Lena Blanchard

Nice and relaxing

Your NEW vacation rental worked out great for us! It is well equipped enough to stay for an extended period of time. It is not on the ocean, but the rural setting along with the patio table, swing and fire pit, has appeal too. A great base for exploring the many outdoor opportunities in the area...Pot holes Park for swimming, hiking and cliff jumping. The Galloping Goose Trail for biking and the close proximity to the Juan De Fuca trails. So much to do... and a nice relaxing home base! Thanks! Verna, Bill and Damon Mazurka PS I forgot to mention the fishing opportunities and fresh crab! YUM!

Wonderful!

I had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful home in the country. Less than 10 minutes from the Sooke core, and 5 minutes to the beach. Gave me a great opportunity to relax and enjoy every minute of my weekend. Very clean, modern and quiet home to visit. I would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in the greater Victoria area.
